Breitling were founded in 1884 by Leon Breitling in St-Imier, in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland. Breitling became the first watch manufacturer to implement the first independent chronograph pushpiece. In 1942 Breitling launched the CHRONOMAT, the first chronograph to be fitted with a circular slide rule. 1952 saw Breitling create the NAVITIMER. The navitimer was equipped with the famous "navigation computer" capable of handling all calculations called for by a flight plan. This type of watch soon became a firm favourite amongst pilots around the globe, with Breitling even supplying the major international airlines with cockpit clocks. Breilting is often at the forefront of the Swiss watch watch industry, with the self-winding chronograph movement being one of their most significant breakthroughs in 1969. Breitling is regarded as one of the best watch makers on the planet and this was emphasised with the SuperQuartz, which provides movements ten times more accurate than standard quartz. Its electronic movements are the only ones on the market able to meet the COSC requirements.

The guarantee only comes into force if the guarantee certificate is dated, fully and correctly completed and stamped by an official Breitling dealer (valid guarantee certificate).
